Our second exhibition was held on the 18th August 2012, at the Webber Independent School, Milton Keynes. Well over 600 people attended and we hope everyone enjoyed the day. Twenty layouts, thirteen traders and two societies also attended the exhibition.
The club was honoured when the Mayor of Milton Keynes, Councillor Catriona Morris agreed to open the exhibition. After much scrutinising, she presented the best visitor trophy to Shaun Gates for ‘Holby City’. She appreciated that lots of hard work went into this layout and said “It looks excellent”.
In the club members category, the Mayor chose ’Oakhill Green’ layout by Peter Findley.
She went on to comment that she felt all of the layouts where of an exceptionally high standard which made her decision very difficult.
Our club OO gauge layout, ‘Watkin Magna’ made its inaugural showing at the exhibition. This layout was still very much work in progress and club members had to work very hard to get one track wired. This was only completed on the 6th August 2012, when the first train operated. This was recorded on video (see the video here Watkin Magna Inaugural Run). This layout provided a major point of interest at the exhibition as it gave the public a view of just how a layout is constructed.
The photographs shown below were taken at our exhibition by Adrian Court.
